Finding Comfort in Discomfort
Book Design for a project that I was tasked with during my study abroad experience in Rome.
The premise of this project was to explore the duality inherent in Italy, where ancient history and modernity coexist, and to translate this into a book design. With Rome being a city of stark contrasts, it proved to be an ideal setting for this exploration.
I chose to juxtapose the themes of "comfort" and "discomfort" as the central theme of the book. Studying abroad is an experience filled with uncertainty and unfamiliarity, pushing students out of their comfort zones and encouraging personal growth. This book seeks to highlight the significance of embracing discomfort as a means of personal development.
"Finding Comfort in Discomfort" symbolizes the idea of discovering light within darkness, much like the Renaissance era emerging as a glimmer of hope after the Dark Ages.
